Ambar Navarro is a Mexican-American artist based out of Los Angeles.

Immersed in the music scene from an early age, she grew up feeling the most at home at live music shows and befriending local acts in the San Antonio, TX punk scene. During this time came her love for arthouse films, music videos, photography, and stop-motion animation.

Since moving to Los Angeles, Navarro earned a B.F.A. at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) Experimental Animation program and worked in puppetry and set fabrication.

After graduation, her focus shifted to directing music videos for labels including (Warner Bros., Atlantic, and Republic Media) and creating abstract and narrative films for art galleries and online. Her films often explore the use of miniatures and found objects, using in-camera and special effects that play with scale and place her subjects into surreal fictional worlds. She is happiest on set shooting on 16mm film.

Her artwork has been featured on Rolling Stone, The Fader, NPR, The Washington Post, and displayed in 50+ galleries nationally and internationally including solo and group shows at the new Tate Modern , Werkartz, Leimin Space, and many more.
